Emirates Introduces Elite Wine Education Program for Cabin Crew: ‘L’art du vin’
Emirates has launched an exclusive wine education program, L’art du vin, designed to enhance the airline’s renowned in-flight wine experience.
This bespoke training initiative, introduced in June 2024 at the Emirates Cabin Crew Training College in Dubai, aims to deepen cabin crew members’ knowledge of Emirates’ esteemed wine offerings and improve their ability to deliver a world-class service.
L’art du vin features three intensive courses tailored to different levels of experience: Introduction, Business Class, and First Class. Each course is conducted in a dedicated classroom designed to resemble a luxurious lounge, complete with mood lighting, ambient music, and a horseshoe-shaped bar that mirrors Emirates’ signature A380 Onboard Lounge.
The program, which includes classroom instruction, interactive apps, and hands-on wine tasting, has already been completed by over 1,000 cabin crew members. Emirates plans to train an additional 22,000 crew members by 2026.
The Introduction course focuses on basic wine knowledge, including the winemaking process, tasting techniques, and wine-pouring skills. The Business Class course builds on this foundation, covering the structural characteristics of wine, global wine regions, and advanced food and wine pairing.
The First Class course offers an in-depth exploration of Premier and Grand Cru Classé wines, with a focus on prestigious Bordeaux and Burgundy estates, as well as iconic wines from around the world.
Graduates of the program receive a certificate of achievement and the opportunity to advance to higher levels of training. The courses are led by specially selected wine ambassadors, each certified by the Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET).
Emirates’ dedication to wine excellence is reflected in the exceptional selection offered to passengers in all classes. First Class passengers can enjoy rare vintages such as the Louis Latour Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru Les Demoiselles 2014 and Vega Sicilia Unico 2006, while Business Class passengers are treated to mature Bordeaux wines from the 2009 vintage.
Premium Economy and Economy passengers are also offered high-quality wines, including selections exclusive to Emirates flights.
