Zambian Youths Honored for Participation in Japan’s Ship for the World Youth Program
In a ceremony held at the Embassy of Japan in Lusaka, Zambian youths who recently participated in the prestigious Ship for the World Youth (SWY) program were awarded certificates of participation.
This event marks a significant milestone in Zambia’s diplomatic relations with Japan as the two nations celebrate 60 years of partnership.
The SWY program, sponsored by the Government of Japan, saw over 200 participants from 14 countries engaging in discussions on global issues and taking part in various activities aimed at fostering multicultural understanding.
For the first time in 35 years, Zambian youths were invited to participate in this esteemed program, highlighting the strengthening ties between Zambia and Japan.
His Excellency Takeuchi Kazuyuki, the Ambassador of Japan, and Ministry of Youth Sport and Arts Permanent Secretary Kangwa Chileshe graced the ceremony, underscoring the importance both nations place on youth empowerment and international collaboration.
During the program, Zambian youths had the opportunity to sharpen their skills in disaster management and mitigation while engaging with their counterparts from around the world.
This experience not only broadened their perspectives but also equipped them with valuable leadership skills crucial for addressing global challenges.
In his address, Ambassador Takeuchi emphasized the significance of youth engagement in promoting cultural exchange and understanding. He reiterated Japan’s commitment to supporting initiatives that empower young leaders to contribute positively to society.
Permanent Secretary Kangwa Chileshe commended the participants for their dedication and urged them to leverage their experiences to drive positive change in their communities.
