Minister Sikumba Hails SuperSportBet Launch as Key Economic Milestone
Minister of Tourism, Rodney Sikumba, has commended Government’s continued efforts to create a conducive environment for business growth, following the official launch of SuperSportBet Zambia in Lusaka.
Speaking during the launch event held at the InterContinental Hotel, Hon. Sikumba described the company’s entry into the Zambian market as a strong vote of confidence in the country’s economic stability and governance under President Hakainde Hichilema.
He noted that the launch marks a significant milestone for Zambia’s gaming, technology, and entertainment sectors, adding that it reflects growing investor confidence in the country’s regulatory and economic framework.
“This is not merely a corporate milestone; it is a clear signal of confidence in Zambia’s economic and regulatory stability,” he said.
The Minister emphasised the critical role of the private sector in driving economic growth, stating that the establishment of SuperSportBet Zambia will contribute to increased economic activity and job creation within the gaming ecosystem.
He further highlighted the sector’s potential to boost revenue generation and stimulate growth across related industries, while highlighting the need for strong regulatory oversight and responsible gaming practices.
“Responsible gaming is not optional; it is a requirement,” Hon. Sikumba stressed, commending the company’s commitment to consumer protection and stakeholder engagement.
The Minister also pointed to the growing interconnection between tourism, entertainment, sports, and technology, noting that such investments enhance visitor experiences and encourage wider participation in the economy.
He expressed optimism that the investment will support sustained economic growth, skills development, and community empowerment, as Zambia continues to position itself as a destination for responsible investment and strategic partnerships.
