ZACCI Calls for Stronger Local Content and Women’s Participation in Mining Sector
The Zambia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ZACCI) has reiterated its commitment to strengthening local content participation and expanding opportunities for women-led enterprises within Zambia’s mining sector.
Speaking as Guest of Honour at the official opening of the Mopani Women in Mining Forum & B2B Exhibition 2026 held in Kitwe on 23rd April 2026, ZACCI President Mr Anthony Kabaghe highlighted the importance of Statutory Instrument No. 68 of 2025 in unlocking business opportunities for local suppliers.
Mr Kabaghe noted that while Zambia has made significant progress in policy formulation, the current priority must be the practical implementation of these frameworks through targeted capacity building for local businesses.
He emphasised the need to equip suppliers with the necessary skills, access to finance, and modern technology in order to meet the stringent standards required by the mining industry.
He further called on mining companies and international partners to deepen collaboration with local enterprises through joint ventures, mentorship programmes, and structured partnerships.
According to Mr Kabaghe, such initiatives are critical in ensuring that women-led businesses are not left behind but are instead positioned to compete effectively within the mining value chain.
ZACCI also reaffirmed its readiness to facilitate stronger business linkages by connecting industry stakeholders with credible and competitive local enterprises drawn from its membership network.
