Finance Ministry Shows Solidarity During Breast Cancer Awareness Month
The Ministry of Finance and National Planning has expressed a message of unity, compassion, and hope as the nation observes Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to supporting those affected by breast cancer and promoting health awareness among citizens and employees alike.
In a statement delivered by Ms Prudence Kaoma, Permanent Secretary for Planning and Administration, the Ministry extended heartfelt solidarity to breast cancer survivors, individuals undergoing treatment, and the families who continue to provide love and support through challenging times.
“Behind every diagnosis lies a story of courage, of individuals who have faced fear with faith, pain with perseverance, and uncertainty with unyielding hope,” said Ms Kaoma.
She commended the resilience of survivors and families across Zambia who have faced the illness with strength and determination, noting that their stories continue to inspire hope across communities.
Ms Kaoma further underscored the importance of early detection, emphasising that regular cancer screening significantly increases the chances of successful treatment and recovery.
“We encourage all employees and citizens to go for cancer screening and health checks regularly. Early detection allows for appropriate medical interventions, reduces recovery time, and greatly improves survival rates,” she added.
The Ministry also highlighted its ongoing efforts to foster workplaces and communities that prioritise health, wellness, and human dignity. It called on all Zambians to continue speaking openly about breast cancer, offering support, and standing together to ensure that no one faces the journey alone.
“Together, we honour the survivors, remember those we have lost, and stand firm in hope for a future free from cancer,” the statement concluded.
