SADC and ICPs Unite to Strengthen Development Cooperation

The Southern African Development Community (SADC) and International Cooperating Partners (ICPs) convened a virtual Dialogue Platform meeting on December 6, 2024, to discuss collaborative approaches for enhancing development cooperation and advancing the SADC Regional Integration Programmes.

Co-chaired by Ambassador Albert Ranganai Chimbindi, Chairperson of the SADC Standing Committee of Senior Officials, and Ambassador Petra Pereyra, Chairperson of the ICPs, the dialogue emphasized promoting ownership, accountability, and harmonization to ensure transparency and mutual respect.

Representatives from SADC Member States and ICPs highlighted the need for synergies to minimize duplication of efforts and resources. The meeting also amplified the region’s call for lifting sanctions on Zimbabwe to accelerate economic and social progress.

SADC Secretariat’s Executive Secretary, H.E. Elias Magosi, outlined the organization’s commitment to mobilizing resources for key regional projects under the Regional Indicative Strategic Development Plan (RISDP) 2020-2030.

The RISDP focuses on Industrial Development, Infrastructure, Social and Human Capital Development, and cross-cutting areas like Gender, Youth, Climate Change, and Disaster Risk Management.
