Zambia Reaffirms Commitment to Digital Learning Platforms in Schools

Ms. Noriana Muneku, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education, reaffirmed Zambia’s dedication to enhancing education through digital learning platforms at UNESCO’s Digital Learning Week in Paris.

Her statement came during a panel discussion titled “Gateways to Public Digital Learning Initiative.”

Ms. Muneku outlined the government’s strategy, which includes recruiting over 38,000 teachers and implementing a free education policy, all aimed at improving educational quality.

She praised President Hakainde Hichilema’s focus on education, noting that digitalization is a core element of his agenda.

Encouraging other developing nations to adopt digital solutions, Ms. Muneku highlighted the benefits of digital learning, such as reduced teacher-pupil ratios and better access to resources, particularly in remote areas.

She also emphasized the importance of investing in digital infrastructure.

Looking ahead, Ms. Muneku expressed optimism about the upcoming Global Digital Compact (GDC) at the UN Summit, which aims to enhance digital inclusion and literacy.

She believes the GDC will foster collaboration and address the need for equitable access to digital resources, thus promoting educational opportunities for all.

This is in a statement issued by Naomi Mweemba, First Secretary Press, Embassy of Zambia, Paris.
