SADC Holds Capacity-Building Workshop on Engaging Non-State Actors

The Southern African Development Community (SADC), in collaboration with Non-State Actors (NSAs) and with the support of the European Union (EU), is set to hold a workshop on implementing a mechanism for engagement with NSAs.

The hybrid workshop will take place from August 11th-12th, 2024, at the Rainbow Towers Hotel and Conference Centre in Harare, Zimbabwe, coinciding with the margins of the SADC Summit of Heads of State and Government.

This initiative aims to bring together a diverse range of stakeholders, including media practitioners, to explore and strengthen methods for effective engagement under the recently approved NSA engagement mechanism and its accreditation requirements.

The workshop follows the SADC Council of Ministers’ approval of the SADC Mechanism for Engagement with NSAs in August 2022, followed by the SADC Accreditation Guidelines for Engagement with NSAs in March 2024.

As the region embarks on the pilot implementation phase of the accreditation guidelines, this workshop serves as a platform to reflect on progress and lay the groundwork for future collaboration.

It represents a significant milestone in advancing the SADC regional integration agenda and fostering meaningful dialogue with civil society organizations.

The workshop will be conducted in a hybrid format, encouraging participation from media practitioners. Those interested in attending virtually can register in advance via the following link: https://us02web.zoom.us/…/tZItfumtqDMoGdNNp0IXnIHMSAyVO…
