Zambia’s Jiangxi Economic Zone Attracts Investment, Promises Jobs
Commerce Minister Chipoka Mulenga visited the Zambia-Jiangxi Economic Cooperation Zone in Chibombo to assess progress and investments.
Officially opened in October 2023 by President Hichilema, the zone is expected to host numerous companies and create local jobs.
Minister Mulenga toured Xiamen Better Technology Group, a zone resident that manufactures vehicle and solar batteries, while also urging responsible practices from all zone companies.
He emphasized the importance of offering affordable, high-quality products with timely delivery for Zambians.
The Minister commended zone management for its investor-readiness and highlighted that incentives are available for both local and foreign investors.
The zone’s Managing Director, Xu Jianfeng, reported signing nine investment agreements, including a functioning transformer assembly plant by Zamtrans Electrical and an upcoming motorcycle assembly plant by T-Better Motorcycle.
These operational businesses are expected to create roughly 1,500 new jobs for local residents.
