President Hichilema Urges Government Officials to Accelerate Project Implementation and Embrace Innovation
President Hakainde Hichilema addressed Permanent Secretaries and senior Government officials across sectors, emphasizing their pivotal role in enhancing service delivery for the benefit of the citizens of Zambia.
While acknowledging commendable progress in revenue collection and disbursement, President Hichilema expressed dissatisfaction with the pace of project and program implementation, attributing the delay to implementing Ministries and Spending Agencies.
He underscored that such delays would not be tolerated if Zambia aims to achieve 21st-century status.
President Hichilema urged the officials to wear their thinking and innovation hats, emphasizing the crucial role of technology and e-governance in efficient service delivery.
Embracing these tools, he believes, will contribute significantly to the country’s advancement.
A key focal point in the President’s address was the need for officials to prioritize expenditure on the investment and revenue collection aspects of the budget rather than consumption. This strategic shift, he argued, would be instrumental in fostering sustainable economic growth.
The President reiterated his commitment to professionalizing the civil service, a promise made during the campaign period.
He emphasized that these efforts are geared towards the overall betterment of the nation, aligning with the vision for a progressive and prosperous Zambia.
As President Hichilema remains vigilant on these matters, the call for a more efficient, innovative, and investment-focused government sets the tone for a transformative agenda, reflecting the aspirations of the Zambian people under the new administration.
