FAZ Provides Latest Update on Aljosa Asan
The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has issued an update regarding the ongoing case involving its former coach, Aljosa Asanovic.
In a statement issued by FAZ Communications Manager, Sydney Mungala, the matter is currently before the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), and FAZ wishes to inform its members and stakeholders of the latest developments.
FAZ had appealed the decision made by a single judge of the FIFA Disciplinary Committee, which awarded Aljosa Asanovic $1.1 million for an alleged breach of contract.
According to FAZ General Secretary Reuben Kamanga, CAS has not yet reached a decision in this matter. He emphasized the association’s commitment to pursuing justice throughout this legal process.
Kamanga has urged patience among FAZ members and stakeholders, as legal proceedings can be lengthy.
He emphasized the need for prudence in handling legal matters and clarified that the case is still in development from all sides. Kamanga assured that no final decisions have been reached at this stage and stated that FAZ will continue to provide updates as the case progresses.
Aljosa Asanovic was appointed by FAZ on January 18, 2022, but he unilaterally terminated his contract with Zambia on September 22, 2022.
His departure followed Zambia’s 1-0 loss to Mozambique at home, leading to their elimination from the African Nations Championship campaign.
