ZAF Enters Mealie Meal Market to Support Food Security
The Zambia Air Force (ZAF) has officially launched its own mealie meal brand, Zambia Air Force Mealie Meal, in a move aimed at contributing to national food supply and economic activity.
The product was unveiled by Defence Minister Ambrose Lufuma during the opening of the ZAF Expo at Peter Zuze Air Force Base.
Speaking at the event, Mr Lufuma said the initiative demonstrates the Air Force’s commitment to supporting national development beyond its traditional defence responsibilities.
He noted that institutions such as the ZAF can play an important role in strengthening economic activities while continuing to safeguard the country.
The Expo has attracted more than 150 companies from the corporate sector and government institutions, showcasing innovations, services and partnership opportunities across a range of industries.
The exhibition has also drawn members of the public, industry players and government officials interested in the Air Force’s evolving role in national development.
According to the Air Force, the newly introduced mealie meal brand is currently retailing at K230 per 25-kilogram bag, providing what officials describe as a more affordable option for households while expanding the institution’s participation in productive ventures.
The launch forms part of broader efforts by the ZAF to promote self-sufficiency and contribute to economic growth while maintaining its core mission of defending and supporting the nation.
