Zambian Appointed UN Resident Coordinator in Angola
Ms Amanda Khozi Mukwashi, a Zambian national, has been appointed as the United Nations Resident Coordinator in the Republic of Angola by UN Secretary-General António Guterres.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation congratulated Ms Mukwashi on the distinguished appointment, highlighting it as a testament to her exceptional leadership, professionalism, and long-standing commitment to international development, humanitarian service, and social justice.
Ms Mukwashi brings over three decades of experience in international development and humanitarian work.
She previously served as UN Resident Coordinator in the Kingdom of Lesotho and has held senior roles within the UN system, including with the United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in Zambia.
During her tenure, she contributed significantly to programmes on gender, population, and development.
The Ministry expressed confidence that Ms Mukwashi will continue to demonstrate exemplary leadership in Angola, strengthening UN coordination, promoting sustainable development, regional cooperation, and inclusive growth.
This appointment underscores Zambia’s growing contribution to global governance and multilateral cooperation, serving as an inspiration to Zambian women and young professionals aspiring to international leadership roles.
