Emirates and Maldivian Forge Interline Partnership to Expand Access to Maldives’ Island Paradises

Emirates has joined hands with Maldivian to establish a robust interline partnership, granting Emirates customers access to 16 stunning holiday destinations within the Maldives, extending beyond the capital city, Malé.

This strategic collaboration comes after the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two airlines last year, aimed at exploring mutually beneficial cooperation opportunities.

This interline agreement unlocks new travel possibilities for Emirates passengers, providing a seamless experience throughout their journey to the Maldivian archipelago.

Travellers heading to the picturesque Maldives can now connect effortlessly and conveniently from Velana International Airport in the North Malé atoll to a range of domestic destinations serviced by Maldivian.

Starting from September 15, 2023, passengers can book travel itineraries on emirates.com, the Emirates mobile app, or through their preferred travel agents for flights effective immediately.

Adnan Kazim, Emirates’ Chief Commercial Officer, expressed delight at the partnership with Maldivian, highlighting the expanded reach into multiple Maldivian points.

By collaborating with the Maldivian national carrier, Emirates aims to offer customers streamlined connections to a diverse selection of Maldivian islands via Malé, simplifying the booking process with single-ticket flights to their ultimate destination. This added value benefits Emirates customers from various regions, including the Middle East, Europe, Africa, and the Americas.

Ibrahim Hamdhan Mohamed, General Manager – Commercial at Maldivian, shared the excitement of this partnership with Emirates, a global aviation leader. The collaboration enhances the visibility of Maldivian’s extensive domestic network and aligns with their goal of providing seamless connectivity to travellers.

Customers now have the convenience of planning and booking their entire journey directly through the airline. As the national carrier, Maldivian is committed to making the Maldives more accessible to travellers worldwide, and the partnership with Emirates reinforces their position as the leading airline in the Maldives.

Emirates customers can fly to airports in a selection of the popular atolls via Malé including Dharavandhoo Island (DRV), Faresmathoda Airport (FMT), Funadhoo Airport (FND), Fuvahmulak Island Airport (FVM), Gan Island International (GAN), Kooddoo Island (GKK), Hanimaadhoo Island Airport (HAQ), Kulhudhuffushi Airport (HDK), Hoarafushi Airport (HRF), Kaadedhdhoo Island Airport (KDM), Kadhdhoo Island (KDO), Madivaru Airport (LMV), Maafaru International Airport (NMF), Maavarulu Airport (RUL), Thimarafushi Airport (TMF), and Ifuru (IFU).

Additionally, travellers holidaying on resort islands can easily access the closest point in the interline network, with only a short ride by seaplane or boat to reach their final destination.

As the partnership between Emirates and Maldivian evolves, more benefits and conveniences are expected to enhance the customer experience when travelling to the Maldives.

Emirates has been a vital supporter of tourism and trade development in the Maldives for over three and a half decades. The award-winning global airline initiated its operations to Malé in 1987 and now offers 28 weekly flights between Dubai and the Maldives, providing customers across its extensive network of nearly 140 destinations with flexibility in flight choices and minimal connection times.

With 29 codeshare partners, 11 intermodal partners, and 117 interline partners, Emirates boasts a global footprint that extends far beyond its own network, offering travellers increased connectivity and convenient options.
