Mulongoti Praises Camco Group for Promoting Excellence and Supporting Zambia’s Agricultural Growth

Ministry of Agriculture Permanent Secretary for Technical Services, Mr John A. Mulongoti, has commended Camco Group for sustaining a strong culture of excellence and making significant contributions to Zambia’s agricultural development.

Mr Mulongoti was speaking when he officiated at the Camco Group Employees’ Recognition Awards Ceremony held on Friday, January 10, 2026. He praised the company for maintaining the employee recognition initiative for more than two decades, describing it as evidence of a disciplined, performance-driven and professional institutional culture.

He said recognising employee excellence motivates staff, strengthens organisations and ultimately contributes to national development.

The Permanent Secretary further described Camco Group as a key strategic partner to the Ministry of Agriculture, particularly in advancing agricultural mechanisation.

He noted that the company’s continued investment in modern machinery, equipment and technical support has played a critical role in improving farm productivity and enhancing Zambia’s food security.

Mr Mulongoti also highlighted Camco Group’s steady growth since its establishment in 1998, citing the firm’s recent venture into farming, which recorded a first wheat harvest yield of ten tonnes per hectare. He said the achievement demonstrated the transformative impact of technology, investment and skilled human capital in the agricultural sector.

He commended the company’s diversified investments spanning agriculture, machinery, mining, energy, vocational education, asset management and business consulting, stating that such expansion reflects strong confidence in Zambia’s economic potential.

Congratulating the award recipients, Mr Mulongoti noted that employees were recognised across 21 categories, representing about 20 per cent of Camco Group’s workforce. He encouraged staff who were not recognised to remain committed, assuring them that future opportunities for recognition would continue.

Reaffirming Government’s commitment to private sector-led growth, Mr Mulongoti said the Ministry of Agriculture remains focused on strengthening partnerships to drive productivity and job creation.

He disclosed that the Ministry has set production targets of 10 million metric tonnes of maize, one million metric tonnes of wheat and one million metric tonnes of soybeans annually by 2031.

He emphasised that achieving these targets will require sustained collaboration in mechanisation, technology transfer and skills development, areas in which Camco Group has already demonstrated leadership.

Mr Mulongoti concluded by commending Camco Group for its continued investment in Zambia and its support for national agricultural priorities, urging the company to remain a dependable partner in the country’s pursuit of food security and economic growth.
