Labour Ministry Launches Nationwide Digital Campaign to Boost Access to E-Services

The Ministry of Labour and Social Security has launched a national digital awareness campaign aimed at transforming public access to its 33 online services, enhancing inclusivity, transparency, and efficiency in service delivery.

The launch was held at the Ministry’s exhibition stand during the ongoing 2025 Zambia Agricultural and Commercial Show in Lusaka, under the theme “Adapting to Climate Change.”

Labour and Social Security Minister Brenda Tambatamba described the initiative as a key step in the Government’s broader e-governance strategy to modernize public service delivery.

She said the campaign will educate citizens on how to access and use the Ministry’s digital services, available on the Zamportal through the Zambia Employment and Labour Management Information System (ZELMIS).

“This campaign is part of our commitment to citizen engagement and reducing the burden of physical visits to government offices,” Minister Tambatamba said. “Digitisation also supports climate change adaptation by minimising paperwork and travel, which reduces our carbon footprint.”

She revealed that over 100 labour-related cases have already been processed through the Ministry’s e-platforms, while 80% of the 238 cases reported via the Citizens Support Services Portal have been successfully resolved, highlighting the Ministry’s commitment to responsive and efficient service delivery.

“The Government Service Bus (GSB) and Citizens Support Portal were created to serve both the general public and key labour market players, employers and employees, to ensure they receive maximum benefits,” she added.

Permanent Secretary Zechariah Luhanga emphasized that the Ministry is prioritizing rural outreach through community-based training programs to ensure that even the most remote communities benefit from digital transformation.

“We are rolling out this campaign nationwide to empower citizens with the knowledge and tools to engage with our services digitally,” Luhanga said.
