Puma Energy Zambia Appoints Zwelithini Mlotshwa as New Managing Director

Puma Energy Zambia Plc (LuSE: PUMA) has announced a major leadership change with the resignation of Mr. Patricio Jaime Chababo as Managing Director and Board Director, effective 1 July 2025. His successor, Mr. Zwelithini Mlotshwa, assumes both roles on the same date.

The Board confirmed the changes in a SENS announcement approved by the Lusaka Securities Exchange (LuSE) and the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) of Zambia.

Mr. Chababo steps down to take on a broader regional role within the Puma Energy Group. He has been appointed Head of Business Development and Cluster Lead for Botswana, Ethiopia, and Uganda. 

Additionally, he will oversee strategic portfolios such as Future Energies, B2B, IT, and Business Support Management (BSM) at the regional level.

Mr. Mlotshwa brings over two decades of multinational experience in Africa’s energy sector. Currently the General Manager of Puma Energy Malawi and Cluster Lead for Tanzania, Malawi, Ethiopia, and Uganda, he has also served as General Manager for Puma Energy Ghana. 

His track record includes launching sustainable energy initiatives such as LPG in Malawi, CNG in Tanzania, and groundwork for LNG operations in Mozambique.

The Board expressed its sincere appreciation to Mr. Chababo for his service and contribution to Puma Energy Zambia and extended best wishes for his new appointment. 

The Board also congratulated Mr. Mlotshwa and voiced confidence in his leadership as the company enters a new chapter of innovation and sustainable growth.
