50MW Solar Plant Implementation Agreement Signed in Kafue

On July 17, 2024, a significant step towards a greener future for Zambia was marked with the signing of an Implementation Agreement for a 50MW solar plant in Kafue Town. 

The agreement was signed by Dr. Francesca Chisangano Zyambo, Permanent Secretary of Administration at the Ministry of Energy, and Mr. Erich Horlacher, CEO of Wendit Group.

Dr. Zyambo expressed the government’s commitment to advancing renewable energy initiatives, highlighting the importance of sustainable energy development for Zambia’s future.

Mr. Horlacher extended his gratitude to the Zambian government for its unwavering support and vision. 

He emphasized that the 50MW solar plant represents a significant leap in Zambia’s energy landscape, providing clean, renewable energy that will reduce reliance on fossil fuels, decrease carbon emissions, and ensure a stable power supply to the region.

“The impact of this project extends beyond just the energy it produces,” noted Mr. Horlacher. “It will also create job opportunities, stimulate local economic growth, and set a benchmark for future renewable energy projects in Zambia and beyond.”
