Minister Mubanga Launches Rural Hammer Mill Distribution in Shiwangandu
The rural distribution of hammer mills was officially launched in Shiwangandu district by the Zambia’s Minister of Small and Medium Enterprise, Hon. Elias Mubanga.
This initiative is part of the government’s policy under President Hakainde Hichilema to empower citizens and address the challenges faced by communities.
During the launch, Minister Mubanga emphasized the significant impact of recent droughts on the country, noting that all 83 districts, including Shiwangandu, have been affected.
“Our people have been receiving relief food to mitigate the hunger situation in the country. The distribution of hammer mills in rural areas aims to provide communities with access to milling plants locally. So far, we have approved 32 hammer mills for Shiwangandu, with 10 already delivered,” he stated.
The ministry will also provide startup capital to cooperatives to help them begin their operations.
The Minister urged cooperatives to protect the hammer mills, highlighting the importance of proper maintenance for raising the capital needed to repay the soft loans.
He assured the cooperatives of his full support in case of any challenges.
