Zambia-China Forum Aims to Boost Economic Ties
The Zambia-China High-Quality Development Forum, set for May 14th to 16th in Lusaka, Zambia, aims to strengthen economic cooperation between the two countries.
Hosted by the Chinese Chamber of Commerce, the event will bring together over 100 participants and exhibitors, including 30 Chinese small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
A key aspect of the forum will be the exhibition running alongside it, showcasing advancements and projects in various sectors critical to sustainable development.
Discussions during the forum will focus on areas like green energy, mining, agriculture, and infrastructure, with a particular emphasis on revitalizing the Tazara railway – a historical symbol of Zambia-China collaboration in infrastructure.
Zambia’s Minister of Small and Medium Enterprise Development, Hon. Elias Mubanga, is expected to deliver the keynote address, highlighting the government’s support for SMEs and creating a favorable environment for trade and investment.
The forum will also explore the use of China’s currency (RMB) for trade, reflecting the evolving economic relationship between Zambia and China.
With the forum approaching, stakeholders are hopeful for productive discussions, strategic partnerships, and concrete outcomes that will significantly advance Zambia-China economic cooperation.
