Fikiliza Overdraft Service Launched to Enhance Digital Financial Access
The government has expressed support for initiatives aimed at improving community livelihoods, with Commerce, Trade and Industry Minister, Hon. Chipoka Mulenga MP, highlighting the role of technology in driving innovation and digital transformation.
Speaking at the launch of the Fikiliza Overdraft Service this morning, Hon. Mulenga emphasized the government’s commitment to initiatives that make life easier for citizens.
The Fikiliza Overdraft Service, a first-of-its-kind product, is a collaboration between Airtel, Natsave, and Yabx. Airtel serves as the distribution and payment platform provider, Natsave provides loan financing, and Yabx is the technology partner behind the service.
The service allows Airtel Money customers to complete their transactions even when their account balance is insufficient, providing greater financial flexibility.
While commending the partnership, Hon. Mulenga also urged customers to ensure they fulfill their repayment obligations. “As a government, we support these kinds of solutions but we also want to believe that necessary measures have been put in place to ensure that customers’ personal and financial information is protected,” he said.
The service aligns with the objectives of the 8th National Development Plan, which focuses on leveraging technology as a key enabler of digital transformation.
With digital financial services becoming increasingly vital, Hon. Mulenga stressed the importance of adapting to the changing landscape to benefit from the growth of the digital economy.
