CEJ Praises UN Fund for Boosting Environmental Activism

The Centre for Environment Justice (CEJ) has commended the United Nations Democracy Fund (UNDEF) for its support in empowering civil society organisations to champion environmental justice in Zambia.

Speaking at the launch of a Technical Working Group (TWG) in Chongwe, CEJ Executive Director Maggie Mwape expressed gratitude for UNDEF’s partnership.

She emphasised the importance of collaborative efforts in addressing climate change and achieving environmental sustainability.

The TWG, established under the project “Strengthening Civil Society Voices for Climate Advocacy in Zambia”, aims to enhance the capacity of civil society organisations to advocate for climate action and the implementation of the National Adaptation Plan (NAP) and Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs).

By providing training, consultations, and knowledge sharing platforms, the project seeks to strengthen the collective voice of civil society in addressing climate change challenges.

Lidya Chibambo, Acting National Coordinator of ZCCN, echoed the importance of civil society engagement in environmental issues.

She praised CEJ’s work in the sector and highlighted the need for more voices to drive positive change.
