ZNS Commander Hails Military Spouses as Pillars of Strength

The Zambia National Service (ZNS) Commander, Lieutenant General Maliti Solochi, has highlighted the critical role spouses play in supporting military personnel.

Lt. Gen. Solochi acknowledged the spouses’ significant contributions to the well-being of their partners and the nation as a whole.

He spoke during a courtesy call by the Malawi National Service (MNS) Spouses Association Patron, Dr. Maggie Chaika, and her delegation at the ZNS Headquarters.

“Spouses serve as pillars of strength, reliable emotional support, and a source of encouragement for their husbands during challenging times,” said Lt. Gen. Solochi.

He commended their resilience and dedication in managing households, raising children, and shouldering various responsibilities, often single-handedly.

Lt. Gen. Solochi further emphasized the strong historical ties between Zambia and Malawi, citing pre-colonial era trade, cultural exchanges, and diplomatic relations. He underscored the present-day friendship and trust between the two nations.

Dr. Chaika, delivering a message from the MNS Commander, Brigadier General John Chaika, expressed their appreciation for the ZNS’ support. She pledged the Malawian spouses’ commitment to continue backing their husbands in fulfilling their national duties.

Dr. Chaika also welcomed the opportunity for collaboration with Zambian Defence and Security Ladies’ Clubs. She expressed interest in learning best practices for empowering military women and uplifting communities.

The visit included the ZNS Eagles Ladies Club Patron, Mrs. Angela Solochi, and her Vice, Mrs. Edna Mwewa. Dr. Chaika commended Mrs. Solochi’s leadership in providing humanitarian aid to victims of Cyclone Freddy in Malawi last year.

This visit strengthens the bond between Zambia and Malawi, highlighting the significant role military spouses play in supporting national security and the well-being of their families.
