SADC Military Leaders Discuss Strengthening Regional Health Services

Military health experts from across the Southern African Development Community (SADC) recently met in Livingstone, Zambia, for the 22nd SADC Military Health Services Working Group (MHSWG) meeting. 

The Deputy Commander and Chief of Air Staff of the Zambian Air Force, Maj Gen Arthur Kalaluka, emphasized the importance of a more proactive approach to addressing military health challenges faced by the region.

The meeting served as a platform for collaboration among member states. Maj Gen Kalaluka stressed that working together is crucial for ensuring regional security and well-being. 

He expressed his appreciation to the outgoing Chairperson, Maj Gen (Dr) Amri Salim Mwami from Tanzania, for his dedication and leadership in advancing the SADC Military Health agenda during his tenure.

The mantle of leadership was then passed to Brig Gen (Dr) Jackson Kasela from Zambia. Brig Gen Kasela expressed his commitment to upholding the values of integrity, professionalism, and dedication in his new role. 

He pledged to continue working towards achieving the shared objective of promoting the health and well-being of military personnel across the SADC region.

The 22nd SADC MHSWG meeting, attended by representatives from 11 member states, was held in a peaceful and cordial atmosphere.
