First Quantum Minerals (FQM) and Prudential Pensions Management Zambia came together to observe the 2024 World Day for Safety and Health at Work, emphasizing the impact of climate change on occupational safety.
The event, hosted by FQM Trident Limited, aimed to raise awareness about the risks posed by climate change, such as extreme weather events and heat stress, and their implications for workplace safety and health.
FQM Trident Limited’s Safety and Health Manager, Atkins Sitwala, underscored the company’s commitment to prioritizing safety in the workplace.
He highlighted the challenges posed by climate change, including high temperatures and increased dust levels, and outlined FQM Trident’s initiatives to mitigate these risks through fitness for work programs and the promotion of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Echoing Sitwala’s sentiments, FQM Trident Limited’s Human Resource Manager, Brighton Mwiinga, emphasized the company’s dedication to maintaining a safe and sustainable working environment.
