Minister of Labour and Social Security Calls for Collaboration at NAPSA Stakeholders’ Forum
The Minister of Labour and Social Security, Honourable Brenda Mwika Tambatamba, MP, delivered a keynote speech at the inaugural National Pension Scheme Authority (NAPSA) Stakeholders’ Forum held at Mulungushi International Conference Center.
In her address, Honourable Tambatamba expressed great pleasure in officiating at the forum, which serves as a platform for engagement between NAPSA and its members, as well as the general public.
The minister commended NAPSA for taking a proactive step in convening the event, demonstrating the authority’s commitment to transparency and engaging directly with its stakeholders.
The forum, which aligns with the 8th National Development Plan, provides an exceptional opportunity for NAPSA to interact with the public, align its operations with expectations, and identify areas for improvement in service delivery.
Honourable Tambatamba acknowledged NAPSA’s commitment to transparency, describing the event as a testament to the transformation the authority has undergone since the establishment of the UPND government.
She expressed confidence that the open dialogue would provide valuable insights to enhance the ability to serve the public better.
The minister highlighted key government reforms, including the pre-retirement lump-sum benefit, commonly known as “partial withdrawal,” which has disbursed over 9 billion Kwacha to more than 431,000 members.
She also emphasized the reduction in penalty rates for late or non-remittance of contributions, aimed at encouraging job creation.
Honourable Tambatamba urged employers to continue remitting employee contributions for the protection of workers, ensuring smooth benefit claims and uninterrupted business operations.
She also appealed to the NAPSA Board of Trustees to provide transparent and accountable leadership, focusing on the growth of the institution for the benefit of its members.
In closing, the minister expressed gratitude to participants for their dedication to the cause of social security and encouraged open and productive discussions for a brighter and more secure future for all Zambians.
