Commemoration of National Day of Prayer, Fasting, Repentance, and Reconciliation in Zambia
The Nation of Zambia is set to observe the National Day of Prayer, Fasting, Repentance, and Reconciliation on October 18, 2023, under the theme: “Building Zambia for Greater Development Through Prayer, Unity, and Hard Work (Proverbs 14:23 and Chronicles 12:32).”
In a statement released today by Hon. Makozo Chikote, MP, Acting Minister of Information and Media, and Chief Government Spokesperson, this day is of great significance on the national calendar and is designated as a public holiday.
It serves as a time for collective reflection on the love and Lordship of God and how He has blessed the nation and preserved its unity and peace.
The National Day of Prayer, Fasting, Repentance, and Reconciliation occurs just six days before Zambia marks its 59th year of independence.
This period has been marked by remarkable stability and peaceful transitions in government, which can be attributed to God’s favor and love, keeping the nation united.
On the national level, a church service will be held at the Show Grounds in Lusaka, commencing at 09:00 hours.
The public is warmly invited to join this service. Diverse leaders from various backgrounds and religious communities will come together in collective prayer and thanksgiving, reflecting on how the Lord has guided Zambia to its present state as a united nation.
The Acting Minister also highlighted that this day provides an opportunity for the nation to seek divine intervention and guidance as Zambia continues its forward march towards nation-building.
This event will be mirrored at provincial and district levels, where Zambians from all walks of life will gather in various locations to commemorate this important day.
The Government reiterates its unwavering commitment to the significance of the National Day of Prayer, Fasting, Repentance, and Reconciliation and invites all Zambians to participate in observing this vital day.
