LCC’s Unusual Dilemma: The Great Car Wash Caper
In a rather bizarre turn of events, the Lusaka City Council (LCC) recently found itself embroiled in a peculiar battle against a group of rogue entrepreneurs who have taken their love for cars to a whole new level.
In a statement issued by Nyambe Bulumba, LCC Public Relations Officer, these daring individuals have decided that the best place to set up shop is not in some fancy building or designated business district but right on the city’s carriageways.
Yes, you read that correctly! Some folks have started transforming the busy roads of Lusaka into their very own garages and car wash businesses.
It appears they took the saying “take your work home with you” quite literally, as they’ve set up car wash stations right in the middle of the traffic flow.
Now, while we can’t help but admire their entrepreneurial spirit and dedication to their craft, the LCC is less than thrilled with this unique business strategy.
They’ve expressed their concerns about traffic congestion and accidents caused by these makeshift car washes. Not to mention, the roads are starting to resemble Swiss cheese with all the wear and tear from these impromptu businesses.
The LCC is quick to point out that this practice is not only risky but also illegal, citing the Public Roads Act No. 12 of 2002. In response, they’ve declared war on the carriageway car washers, vowing to enforce the law and protect the city’s roads from further damage.
In the coming weeks, expect to see some rather unusual roadblocks as the LCC takes action to dismantle these roadside businesses.
Will the carriageway car washers yield to the might of the LCC, or will they continue to scrub, rinse, and repeat in the face of adversity? Only time will tell in this quirky battle for Lusaka’s streets.
