Forum for African Women Educationalists (FAWEZA) Commends Recruitment of 4500 Teachers by Teachers Service Commission
The Forum for African Women Educationalists (FAWEZA) has lauded the recruitment of 4500 teachers by the Teachers Service Commission. This move is seen as a significant step towards enhancing the quality of education, especially in light of the increased number of students due to the introduction of free education.
Costern Kanchele, the Executive Director of FAWEZA, expressed his appreciation for this commitment to education improvement. However, he also called upon the Teachers Service Commission to ensure that the distribution of these teachers is based on a thorough assessment to ensure they are allocated to the areas where they are most needed.
Furthermore, Mr. Kanchele made a specific appeal for the recruitment of more female teachers, particularly in the fields of science, technology, mathematics, and engineering. He emphasized the importance of sending these female educators to rural areas, where they can serve as role models and mentors to young girls facing challenges such as teenage pregnancies and early marriages.
The Teachers Service Commission has officially initiated the teacher recruitment process for the year 2023.
