Zambia and Ghana Deepen Technology and Innovation Partnership
Zambia and Ghana have taken a significant step towards stronger collaboration in technology, communication, and innovation, following a bilateral meeting between Hon. Felix Chipota Mutati, MP, Minister of Technology and Science, and his Ghanaian counterpart, Hon. Samuel Nartey George, Minister of Communications, Digital Technology and Innovation.
The discussions formed part of preparatory engagements ahead of the upcoming State Visit by the President of Ghana, following the earlier visit by the President of Zambia to Accra.
The meeting emphasised practical, results-oriented cooperation, with a strong focus on leveraging technology to improve citizen services and foster private-sector partnerships.
Hon. Mutati welcomed the Ghanaian delegation, describing the engagement as timely in advancing Zambia–Ghana cooperation.
He highlighted the inclusion of private-sector representatives from sectors such as fintech, agriculture, health, and education, underlining the shift from high-level dialogue to actionable partnerships.
He noted that Africa’s development challenges require African-led solutions, citing Zambia’s Mine-Tech Hub and Ghana’s Agri-Tech Hub as examples of continental leadership in innovation. “Our goal is to move from conversation to action, with governments enabling private-sector solutions that directly impact lives,” he said.
Hon. George praised Zambia as a strategic partner and reiterated Ghana’s commitment to Africa-centric digital and artificial intelligence strategies.
He highlighted that the delegation included twelve technology firms aiming to establish two-way partnerships, enabling Ghanaian companies to operate in Zambia and creating opportunities for Zambian firms in Ghana.
“This marks the beginning of a new era in Ghana–Zambia relations, focusing on tangible outcomes rather than symbolic gestures,” said Hon. George. “Africa must prioritise African interests and solutions, and Zambia is a key hub for achieving this in Southern Africa.”
