Emirates Brings High-Speed Sailing Spectacle Back to UK with SailGP Portsmouth
The thrill of world-class sailing returns to the south coast of England as Emirates, the world’s largest international airline, partners with SailGP to host the Emirates Great Britain Sail Grand Prix Portsmouth from 19–20 July 2025. As Title Partner of the event and Global and Exclusive Airline Partner of SailGP, Emirates is reaffirming its long-standing support for competitive sailing.
The two-day racing spectacle will showcase high-speed action on the Solent waters, featuring cutting-edge F50 catamarans and elite sailing teams, including the Emirates Great Britain SailGP Team.
Speaking ahead of the event, Sir Tim Clark, President of Emirates Airline, said: “Emirates has been a staunch supporter of sailing since 2004, and we are delighted to help bring the iconic racing event back to the UK through our partnership with SailGP. Together, we’ll take the sport to new levels and bring fans closer to the action.”
On site, Emirates is offering fans immersive experiences, including:
- ‘Spin to Win’ promotions for a chance to win exclusive travel prizes including a trip to Dubai.
- Photo opportunities with Emirates cabin crew and Polaroid keepsakes.
- Exclusive merchandise at the Emirates Official Store.
- VIP tours of the Emirates GBR SailGP tech base for guests of the Rolex SailGP Adrenaline Lounge.
Emirates’ signature branding will be visible across the racecourse, boats, stadium, and finish line. Passengers onboard Emirates flights can also catch the races live via Sport 24 or watch behind-the-scenes action from SailGP’s Racing on the Edge series via the airline’s ICE entertainment system.
Earlier this month, SailGP team athletes Hannah Mills, Dylan Fletcher, and Kai Hockley toured the Emirates World Travel Store in London, engaging with fans and participating in interactive onboard lounge challenges.
Emirates has a deep history of supporting sailing in the UK, previously sponsoring Spinnaker Tower, America’s Cup events, and Emirates Team New Zealand. In addition to sailing, the airline’s UK sponsorship portfolio includes Arsenal FC, the Emirates FA Cup, Wimbledon, and the Women’s Rugby World Cup 2025.
Emirates currently operates 133 weekly flights across the UK, connecting passengers to over 140 destinations globally.
