Chongwe District Health Director Arrested for Corruption Involving K422,000
The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has arrested and charged Dr. Mweene Tembalami Nseluke, the District Health Director for Chongwe, in connection with a corruption case involving over K422,000.
According to a media statement released by ACC Head of Corporate Communications, Timothy Moono, Dr. Nseluke, 47, of House No. A07 Chainama Hills Hospital, faces ten counts of failure to declare a conflict of interest. These charges are pursuant to Section 19 (3)(b) and 19 (9), read together with Section 107 of the Public Procurement Act No. 8 of 2020.
Investigations revealed that on June 1, 2022, Dr. Nseluke, while serving as the District Health Director, signed a contract with Lukem Prominent Ventures—a company in which he holds ownership.
The contract, executed on behalf of Lukem Prominent Ventures by his sister, Sinikiwe Masuka, covered the servicing and repair of Ministry of Health vehicles in Chongwe District.
Records from the Patents and Companies Registration Agency (PACRA) confirmed Dr. Nseluke’s ownership of Lukem Prominent Ventures. Further investigations established that he authorized and certified payments totaling K422,415.00 to the company without declaring his personal interest.
He has since been released on bond and is expected to appear in court on Friday, June 20, 2025, for plea and potential commencement of trial.
The ACC emphasized its commitment to fighting corruption, stating, “The Commission will not spare any public official who abrogates the law for selfish gains and will ensure that they face the consequences of their action.”
