Ecobank Zambia Deepens Collaboration with DEC to Combat Financial Crimes

Ecobank Zambia has reaffirmed its commitment to financial integrity and national security through a strategic engagement with the Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC).

On June 5, Ecobank Zambia Managing Director Ms. Aina Moore paid a courtesy visit to DEC Director-General Mr. Nason Banda, signaling stronger cooperation in the fight against financial crimes.

The meeting focused on enhancing intelligence sharing and building robust systems to detect and prevent illicit financial activities, including money laundering.

Both parties emphasized the importance of joint efforts in protecting Zambia’s financial ecosystem.

“A secure financial environment is crucial for sustainable development,” said Ms. Moore. “Partnering with the DEC strengthens our zero-tolerance approach to financial crime and reinforces our responsibility to the nation.”

Mr. Banda welcomed the collaboration, highlighting the key role of financial institutions in identifying suspicious transactions and supporting enforcement efforts.

He noted that early detection, supported by transparent partnerships, is vital in disrupting criminal networks.

“Stronger partnerships mean a safer Zambia,” emphasized Ms. Moore, calling on other institutions to engage in collaborative frameworks that promote economic resilience.
