Costa Rica Calls for Deeper Cooperation with Zambia
President of the Republic of Costa Rica, His Excellency Mr. Rodrigo Chaves Robles, has called for enhanced cooperation between Costa Rica and Zambia to foster mutual benefits for both nations.
President Robles made the call on Thursday, January 30, 2025, when he received Letters of Credence from Zambia’s Ambassador to the United States, Dr. Chibamba Kanyama, accrediting him as Zambia’s Non-Resident Ambassador to Costa Rica.
The credentials ceremony was held at the State House in San José, with Costa Rica’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Arnoldo André Tinoco, in attendance.
During his remarks, President Robles described Zambia as a beautiful country with vast investment opportunities.
He also expressed enthusiasm about meeting Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema at the Ocean Conference in Nice, France, scheduled for June 9-13, ahead of the United Nations General Assembly in New York later this year.
Ambassador Dr. Kanyama, in his address, emphasized the importance of strengthening bilateral relations to drive economic growth through investment, cooperation, and collaboration.
He acknowledged Costa Rica’s leadership in environmental conservation and sustainability, noting that Zambia seeks to learn from the country’s successes in these areas while sharing its own best practices.
“The Zambian Government recognizes Costa Rica’s achievements in preserving natural resources and promoting sustainable development. Zambia is eager to engage in knowledge-sharing and cooperation to address global environmental challenges,” Dr. Kanyama said.
With the formal establishment of diplomatic ties through this accreditation, Zambia and Costa Rica have pledged to embark on a journey of mutual discovery, collaboration, and development across various sectors.
