President Hichilema to Attend Lobito Corridor Summit in Angola
His Excellency Mr. Hakainde Hichilema, President of the Republic of Zambia, is set to embark on an Official Visit to the Republic of Angola on 4 December 2024, at the invitation of His Excellency Mr. João Manuel Gonçalves Lourenço, President of Angola.
During the visit, President Hichilema will participate in the Partnership for Global Infrastructure and Investment (PGII) Lobito Corridor Summit, convened on the sidelines of a State Visit by U.S. President Joseph R. Biden.
The summit will highlight progress in developing the Lobito Corridor, a critical infrastructure project aimed at enhancing trade and connectivity across southern Africa.
The Summit will feature high-level discussions involving Angola, Zambia, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and the United Republic of Tanzania, along with global partners.
This collaboration aims to strengthen regional integration and economic growth by establishing the Lobito Corridor as a strategic trade route to the sea.
President Hichilema, a staunch advocate for regional trade and infrastructure development, will join other Heads of State and international stakeholders to discuss the corridor’s transformative potential.
The Lobito Corridor project, driven by the partnership of the Lobito Corridor Consortium, is expected to unlock economic opportunities, facilitate investment, and create jobs across the region.
Zambia and Angola share a robust bilateral relationship, working together on key initiatives that promote national, regional, and global progress. The President is expected to return to Zambia after concluding his engagements.
