FAZ President Congratulates Chipolopolo on 18th AFCON Qualification
The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has congratulated the Zambia Men’s National Team for securing their 18th qualification to the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). FAZ President Andrew Kamanga expressed his pride in the team’s achievement, highlighting their commitment to upholding Zambia’s reputation as a force in African football.
Kamanga praised the Chipolopolo for their hard-fought victory against African champions Ivory Coast, which guaranteed their qualification to the Morocco 2025 AFCON.
“On behalf of the executive and the entire football family, I wish to congratulate the Chipolopolo for their victory and qualification to the Africa Cup of Nations,” Kamanga said.
He emphasized that the qualification is part of a broader success for Zambian football, with the country also celebrating the qualification of the Under-20 Men’s National Team and the Senior Women’s National Team for international tournaments.
“This qualification is a testament to the standard we have set for ourselves as a footballing nation,” Kamanga added.
The Chipolopolo secured their place in the tournament after defeating Ivory Coast 1-0 at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola. With 10 points from five matches, Zambia leads Group G with one match remaining. Their qualification was sealed before their final fixture against Sierra Leone in Monrovia on Tuesday.
Ivory Coast, who also qualified, follows in second place with nine points, while Sierra Leone sits third with five points. Chad is at the bottom of the group with three points.
Kamanga extended his thanks to the team, technical bench, FAZ secretariat, government, commercial partners, and the passionate Zambian football fans who played a crucial role in the Chipolopolo’s qualification.
“A big thank you to the fans and general Zambian football supporters for helping us realize our dream,” he said.
