Zanaco Disburses Over K5 Billion to Farmers Across Zambia
Zanaco has successfully facilitated payments totalling over K5.25 billion on behalf of the Food Reserve Agency (FRA), ensuring timely remuneration for farmers who supplied maize to the agency.
Zanaco Chief Executive Officer, Mukwandi Chibesakunda, confirmed that payments have been made through a combination of Zanaco branches, mobile network operators, and other financial institutions, reaching key agricultural districts including Chisamba, Chibombo, Mkushi, Kapiri Mposhi, Kafue, and Itezhi Tezhi, as well as Choma, Monze, Gwembe, Mazabuka, Namwala, Chipata, Lundazi, Petauke, Nakonde, Mpika, Kasama, Mungwi, Mporokoso, Kawambwa, Ndola, Solwezi, and Senanga.
Mrs Chibesakunda emphasised Zanaco’s commitment to supporting the government’s efforts to ensure farmers receive their payments promptly. “To make this possible, the bank has extended operating hours in 19 branches and introduced weekend banking services — we do not want to leave any farmer behind,” she said.
In addition, Zanaco has deployed Cash-in-Transit solutions to reach remote areas and expanded digital payment platforms, giving farmers multiple options to receive funds safely and conveniently.
Mrs Chibesakunda encouraged farmers to take full advantage of these electronic services.
This initiative highlights Zanaco’s dedication to empowering Zambia’s farming communities and strengthening the agricultural sector by facilitating fast, secure, and accessible payments to farmers across the country.
