North-Western Expo Showcases Investment and SME Opportunities
As Zambia’s North-Western Province continues to establish itself as a key destination for investment and industrial growth, the North-Western Business and Investment Expo provided a vital platform to showcase the region’s economic potential.
Among the prominent participants was First Quantum Minerals (FQM), which reaffirmed its commitment to fostering local enterprise development and sustainable partnerships through its operations at Kansanshi Mine and FQM Trident Limited.
Organised by the North-Western Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the expo brought together government officials, business leaders, and community representatives to explore collaboration opportunities and sustainable development initiatives in the province.
Speaking at the event, Kansanshi Mining PLC Corporate Affairs Superintendent, Ryan Ellis, representing FQM, emphasised the company’s dedication to empowering SMEs through initiatives across Kansanshi Mine and FQM Trident Limited.
“FQM remains committed to working closely with local entrepreneurs to build capacity, enhance competitiveness, and increase participation in the mining value chain. North-Western Province is a growing investment destination, and events such as this expo are essential in driving inclusive industrial growth,” said Mr Ellis.
Ministry of Small and Medium Enterprises Development Permanent Secretary, Subeta Mutelo, praised the initiative, encouraging SMEs to seize opportunities and play a central role in Zambia’s economic transformation.
“SMEs are the backbone of our economy. We urge them to innovate, collaborate, and grow into sustainable enterprises that will contribute meaningfully to national development,” she added.
Meanwhile, Chief Mumena called on SMEs to strengthen their businesses collectively, transitioning from small ventures into larger, competitive enterprises capable of driving regional progress.
North-Western Chamber of Commerce and Industry President, Amos Kapi, highlighted the Chamber’s ongoing commitment to creating platforms that promote networking, visibility, and growth for local businesses.
As part of the expo, participants toured Kansanshi Mine in Solwezi and the Multi-Facility Economic Zone (MFEZ) in Kalumbila District, gaining insight into existing and emerging business opportunities.
