Sikumba Pitches Africa’s Tourism at Global Summit

Zambia’s Minister of Tourism, Honourable Rodney Malindi Sikumba, has arrived in Cape Town, Western Cape Province, South Africa, to take part in the Inaugural Tourism Investment Summit scheduled for 9–10 September 2025.

The landmark two-day summit will convene senior policymakers, global investors and industry leaders to explore fresh opportunities and drive investment in Africa’s growing tourism sector.

Honourable Sikumba, who was recently elected Chairperson of the UN Tourism Regional Commission for Africa (CAF), is set to play a prominent role during the event. He will feature on the high-level Investment Panel 1: Public-Private Leaders Dialogue, joining G20 Ministers and senior executives from the global tourism and travel industry.

Speaking on arrival in Cape Town, Minister Sikumba underscored the importance of the gathering for the continent.

“This Summit presents a unique opportunity for Africa to showcase its vast tourism potential and to strengthen collaboration with global partners. As Chairperson of the UN Tourism Regional Commission for Africa, I am honoured to represent Zambia and the continent in fostering meaningful dialogue that will accelerate tourism investment, create jobs and deliver inclusive growth,” he said.

The Ministry of Tourism reaffirmed its commitment to positioning Zambia as one of Africa’s premier destinations for both tourism and investment.
