Emirates Celebrates Onam with Authentic Kerala Menus Onboard

Emirates is marking the Kerala harvest festival of Onam with a specially curated menu of traditional dishes, served across all cabin classes on flights between Dubai and the Indian cities of Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram until 6 September.

Renowned for its culturally inspired cuisine, the airline is offering customers a true taste of home with authentic Onam delicacies. Travellers can enjoy appetisers such as sharkara upperi (banana roasted in jaggery), kaya varuthathu (crisp banana chips), and kondattam mulaku (fried sundried chillies steeped in yoghurt). Classic dips including kaalan (coconut, yam and yoghurt curry), cucumber pachadi and puli inji (ginger chutney) are also featured.

Main courses span both vegetarian and non-vegetarian favourites, from alleppey kozhi curry and nadan kozhi kari to the traditional sadhya meal, while First Class passengers will also be treated to Kerala-style chicken stew. Desserts include palada pradhaman, a creamy rice pudding, and parippu payasam, a sweet lentil pudding. To enhance authenticity, meals are presented on banana leaf dish liners.

Beyond cuisine, Emirates’ award-winning ice entertainment system offers over 6,500 channels, including 15 Malayalam films, 170 Indian movies, popular series like Koffee with Karan, and music from artists such as AP Dhillon and Anuv Jain.

The seasonal offering reflects Emirates’ continued commitment to celebrating cultural traditions and delivering memorable experiences to its global customers.
