Emirates Expands Operations in South Africa with Fourth Daily Flight to Johannesburg

Emirates has announced the addition of a fourth daily flight to Johannesburg, effective March 1, 2025, significantly enhancing connectivity and travel options for passengers. This new service follows the airline’s recent introduction of a second daily A380 flight on the Dubai-Johannesburg route, which commenced on September 1, 2024, underscoring South Africa’s importance in Emirates’ global network.

The new flight will be operated by a three-class Boeing 777-300ER, adding an extra 708 seats daily at South Africa’s busiest international airport. EK767 will depart Dubai at 00:10, landing in Johannesburg at 06:20, while the return flight, EK768, will leave Johannesburg at 10:15 and arrive in Dubai at 20:15, thus introducing a morning departure from Johannesburg.

Adnan Kazim, Emirates Deputy President and Chief Commercial Officer, stated, “The fourth daily flight enables us to better serve the growing demand for travel to and from South Africa. We appreciate the support of South African authorities in making this new service possible, which reinstates our pre-pandemic capacity of 49 weekly flights across three gateways.”

This expansion not only enhances passenger travel but also boosts cargo capacity, allowing for the transport of 300 tonnes of goods weekly. Emirates SkyCargo will continue to facilitate the movement of essential commodities, including fresh produce and seafood, connecting South African businesses to global markets.

Emirates’ longstanding partnership with South African Airways, established in 1997, allows for seamless travel across 12 destinations via Johannesburg and access to 44 regional cities through Airlink. Additional interline agreements with Cemair and FlySafair further broaden connectivity, providing passengers the opportunity to explore more of Africa.

With nearly three decades of service to South Africa, Emirates has carried over 20 million passengers since its inaugural flight to Johannesburg in June 1995. The airline remains committed to supporting South Africa’s tourism sector, aiming to position it as a leading economic contributor.

Emirates continues to deliver a premium travel experience, featuring exclusive lounges in Johannesburg and Cape Town for First Class and Business Class passengers, along with a Chauffeur Drive Service for luxury transportation to and from the airport. As Emirates deepens its presence in South Africa, it reaffirms its role as a vital partner in the region’s aviation, tourism, and trade sectors.
