Emirates and S.L. Benfica Extend Partnership Until 2029

Emirates Airline and Portuguese football giants S.L. Benfica have renewed their partnership for an additional five seasons, extending their collaboration until 2029. This extension highlights a decade-long relationship driven by mutual passion for excellence.

Since becoming Benfica’s Official Airline Partner in 2014, Emirates deepened its involvement in 2015 by featuring its branding on the front of Benfica’s jerseys.

The new contract, marking the longest and most significant deal in Benfica’s history, will carry the updated “Fly Better” branding on the team’s kits, reinforcing both the airline and club’s commitment to reaching new heights.

Boutros Boutros, Executive Vice President of Corporate Communications, Marketing and Brand at Emirates, expressed enthusiasm about the renewal.

“We see this extension as an opportunity to enhance the fan experience for Benfica’s passionate supporters both in Portugal and globally. It reflects our long-term commitment to Portugal, a key destination in our European network.”

S.L. Benfica, known for its record-breaking achievements and a fan base of over 50 million, remains a powerhouse in Portuguese football. With 86 major trophies, including consecutive European Cup victories, Benfica is a fixture in the UEFA Champions League and will participate in FIFA’s Club World Cup in 2025. The Estádio da Luz, Benfica’s home ground, continues to be a global gathering point for football fans.

Rui Costa, President of S.L. Benfica, commented on the partnership extension, saying, “We are thrilled to extend our partnership with Emirates, a brand synonymous with excellence and ambition. This renewal underscores the success of our collaboration and our shared vision for the future. Together, we will continue to achieve even greater success.”

Emirates, with its extensive sponsorship portfolio, includes partnerships with top European football clubs like Arsenal, AC Milan, and Real Madrid, as well as associations in sailing, rugby, tennis, and golf.

The airline operates 14 weekly flights to Lisbon and has carried over 2.6 million passengers since beginning operations in Portugal. Beyond Benfica, Emirates also sponsors the Millennium Estoril Open, part of its support for over 60 ATP tennis events worldwide.
