President Hichilema Congratulates EFZ on 60th Anniversary, Pledges Support for Community Development Initiatives
President Hakainde Hichilema has expressed deep gratitude to the Evangelical Fellowship of Zambia (EFZ) for inviting him to their 60th-anniversary celebration, held at the Bread of Life Church in Emmasdale on 18th August.
The President extended heartfelt congratulations to the Church Mother Body for reaching this remarkable milestone, recognizing EFZ’s unwavering commitment to faith, partnership, and community service.
In his address, President Hichilema lauded EFZ for its role in providing spiritual guidance, promoting social justice, and contributing to community development through initiatives in health and education.
He highlighted the organization’s impact as a source of hope and inspiration for many Zambians.
“As a government, we stand ready and willing to support the Evangelical Fellowship of Zambia in partnerships that will promote sustainable economic development for the benefit of all our citizens,” President Hichilema affirmed.
The President also took the opportunity to reaffirm Zambia’s stance as a Christian nation, emphasizing that the country’s declaration as such will remain.
He reiterated the government’s position against homosexuality, citing it as contrary to Zambia’s cultural and Christian values.
President Hichilema called on the Church to collaborate with the government in addressing societal challenges, including the rising rates of divorce and the misuse of social media, which he noted are becoming increasingly prevalent in the country.
In a gesture of support, President Hichilema announced the donation of 21 heifers and one bull to EFZ, intended to help establish a herd and assist the organization in starting a ranching business.
This contribution, he stated, is a part of the government’s commitment to aiding EFZ’s efforts in community development and economic sustainability.
