Mozambican President to Undertake State Visit to Zambia
The Zambia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation has announced that His Excellency Mr. Filipe Jacinto Nyusi, President of the Republic of Mozambique, will undertake a State Visit to Zambia from 27th to 29th June 2024.
This visit comes at the invitation of Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema and reciprocates President Hichilema’s earlier visits to Mozambique.
During the visit, Presidents Nyusi and Hichilema will engage in bilateral talks in Lusaka, addressing matters of mutual interest between the two countries.
These discussions are expected to culminate in the signing of several Memoranda of Understanding, covering areas such as tourism, border infrastructure development, and energy cooperation.
On Friday, 28th June, President Nyusi is scheduled to address the National Assembly of Zambia, followed by a tour of selected manufacturing companies in Lusaka. The following day, he will grace the 58th Zambia International Trade Fair in Ndola as the Guest of Honour.
Zambia and Mozambique have long enjoyed robust bilateral relations, grounded in shared values and a strong friendship. The two nations collaborate extensively on socio-economic and political issues, with Mozambique serving as a strategic transport link for Zambia through the seaport of Beira and the Nacala Corridor.
President Hichilema has expressed his commitment to strengthening Zambia’s ties with its neighbours through increased bilateral and regional cooperation.
President Nyusi’s visit aims to reinforce the longstanding ties between Zambia and Mozambique, opening up new economic opportunities for mutual benefit.
President Nyusi will conclude his engagements and depart Zambia on 29th June 2024.
