Malawi Calls for Enhanced Business Cooperation with Zambia
The Malawian High Commissioner to Zambia has proposed a strategic collaboration aimed at boosting economic growth between the two neighboring nations.
The proposed partnership between the Ndola Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NCCI) and the Malawi Confederation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (MCCCI) aims to harness opportunities in sectors such as mining, agriculture, tourism, and energy.
In a press statement, Ndola Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Joseph Malisawa expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration. He emphasized the Chamber’s commitment to supporting both government and private sector initiatives to foster mutual understanding and economic success for Zambia and Malawi.
“The engagement with the Malawian High Commissioner underscores our dedication to exploring business opportunities and establishing direct linkages between our countries,” Malisawa stated. “We are ready to engage in meaningful and productive collaborations as proposed by Ms. Kamoto, which will undoubtedly strengthen our bilateral relations.”
The collaboration is expected to be formalized through the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the two countries, focusing on specific business areas.
This formal partnership aims to create synergies that will benefit both nations. Zambia stands to gain from Malawi’s robust agricultural sector, while Malawi can leverage Zambia’s expertise in the mining industry.
“The meeting with the Malawian High Commissioner builds on an earlier engagement held last year,” Malisawa added. “Our objective remains clear: to foster strong partnerships that facilitate business growth and enhance the economic landscapes of both Zambia and Malawi.”
