Zambia’s U17 Women’s Football Team Makes Strides Towards World Cup

The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) is celebrating the success of the Zambia Under-17 Women’s National Team! The team has battled their way through the qualifiers and secured a spot in the final round for the Dominican Republic 2024 FIFA World Cup.

FAZ President Andrew Kamanga expressed his pride in the team’s accomplishment. “We are incredibly impressed with the fighting spirit of our U17 girls throughout this long and challenging qualification process,” he said. “They’ve earned their place in the final round, but the work isn’t done yet.”

The final hurdle for Zambia will be either Morocco or Algeria. The first leg of the final round is scheduled for June 7th-9th, with the return leg following on June 14th-16th. Both teams will be vying for one of the three coveted spots available for African teams at the World Cup.

The FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup will be held from October 10th to November 3rd, 2024. Zambia’s U17 team is drawing inspiration from the recent success of African senior women’s national teams at the FIFA Women’s World Cup and hopes to emulate their achievements.

This press release was issued by Sydney Mungala, Communications Manager for the Football Association of Zambia.
