Zambia Launches Web Portal to Connect with Its Global Diaspora

The Zambian government has unveiled a new online resource for its citizens living abroad, aiming to bridge the gap and foster stronger connections.

The Diaspora Web Portal, launched by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in collaboration with the International Organisation for Migration (IOM), serves as a one-stop shop for information and engagement.

“The Diaspora community is a vibrant channel of transformation,” declared Hon. Mulambo Haimbe, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, at the launch ceremony. He emphasized the invaluable contributions of Zambians abroad, recognizing them as the country’s “11th province.”

The portal offers a wealth of information on government policies, programs, regulations, and trade opportunities. Zambians living overseas can stay informed and explore potential avenues for investment and engagement with their homeland.

The platform extends beyond just information sharing. It aims to create a space for collaboration and exchange. Skilled professionals, entrepreneurs, students, and second-generation Zambians are all encouraged to utilize the portal.

“This important platform,” Minister Haimbe stated, “encourages the Diaspora’s participation in information sharing and exchange.” This collaborative approach is expected to enrich knowledge circulation within Zambia and empower Zambians abroad to actively contribute to the country’s development.

The Zambian government is actively seeking the participation of its global diaspora. The web portal features a digital registration form, encouraging users to sign up and connect with the online community. This will ensure a consistent flow of information and strengthen the bonds between Zambians at home and abroad.

The launch of the Diaspora Web Portal signifies a new chapter in Zambia’s relationship with its citizens overseas. By providing a platform for communication, collaboration, and engagement, the government hopes to harness the collective potential of its global diaspora community.
