Nangaa’s Open Letter to Macron: Tshisekedi’s Welcome in Paris Questioned
Corneille Nangaa, leader of the Congo River Alliance and former CENI president turned rebel, has stirred controversy by sending an open letter to French President Emmanuel Macron, questioning the recent meeting between Macron and Democratic Republic of Congo President Felix Tshisekedi in Paris.
In the letter, Nangaa condemns Tshisekedi’s government, accusing it of electoral fraud and human rights violations. He questions France’s decision to host Tshisekedi, labeling it as hypocritical for a country known for championing democracy and human rights.
Nangaa highlights Tshisekedi’s alleged support for armed groups in eastern DR Congo, including the INTERAHAMWE/FDLR, and accuses him of perpetrating genocide against the Congolese population.
Furthermore, Nangaa criticizes Tshisekedi’s administration for its tribalism, nepotism, and political violence, painting a grim picture of the situation in the country.
He concludes the letter by challenging Macron to reconsider hosting Tshisekedi and to uphold France’s reputation as a defender of human rights.
The letter adds fuel to the fire of opposition against Tshisekedi’s leadership, with Nangaa boldly declaring “TSHISEKEDI MUST GO.” The outcome of Macron’s response remains uncertain, as Nangaa poses critical questions regarding France’s stance on human rights and its relationship with the DR Congo.
The open letter has sparked debate and raised concerns about the implications of hosting leaders accused of human rights abuses, posing a dilemma for Macron and the French government.
