Vice-President Commends Zambia Federation of Employers for Promoting Labor Rights and Economic Growth
Her Honour the Vice-President of the Republic of Zambia, Mrs. W. K. Mutale-Nalumango, MP, delivered a keynote speech at the 56th Annual General Meeting of the Zambia Federation of Employers, highlighting the vital role played by the Federation in safeguarding the interests of member companies and advancing labor rights in the country.
Mrs. Mutale-Nalumango praised the Zambia Federation of Employers for its longstanding presence and its efforts in educating employers about Zambian labor laws, contributing significantly to industrial harmony.
She emphasized the importance of ensuring that new foreign investors are promptly informed about workers’ rights as outlined in the country’s labor legislation.
Furthermore, the Vice-President reaffirmed the government’s commitment to fostering a conducive business environment and addressing challenges faced by businesses in Zambia through initiatives such as the Public Private Dialogue Forum.
Addressing concerns raised by the private sector regarding skills mismatch, Mrs. Mutale-Nalumango introduced the “Skills Development for Increased Employability Program,” aimed at enhancing the employability of both men and women in Zambia.
This initiative seeks to improve the quality and relevance of technical education and vocational training, addressing industry demand-driven skills.
