Mpika DC Condemns Referee Harassment, Calls for Fan Education.
Mpika District Commissioner David Siame has condemned the harassment of match officials in the region.
He urged the Muchinga Province FAZ Executive to educate clubs and fans about the rules of the game.
Siame stated that football should be managed by the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) and that fans should follow the rules. He emphasized that government would work to educate the public about the sport.
He criticized the recent violence against referees, including beatings, and warned that such behavior would result in arrests.
Siame highlighted the importance of enjoying the game and respecting officials’ decisions.
Siame commended FAZ on the Copper Queens’ qualification for the 2024 Paris Olympics, acknowledging the achievement and expressing pride in the women’s national team.
FAZ president Andrew Kamanga responded by assuring Siame that the federation would address his concerns.
He pledged to work with the provincial executive to take action against those involved in hooliganism.
Kamanga emphasized that education about the rules of the game was crucial, and that fans who break the law would be held accountable.
